Namo Drone Didi Initiative Empowers 15,000 Women with Drones

New Delhi, June 10, 2025: In a landmark move under the ‘Namo Drone Didi’ initiative, the Government of India has distributed 15,000 agricultural drones to women self-help groups (SHGs) across the country. This effort aims to empower rural women through advanced technology, opening new avenues for income and self-reliance.

Namo Drone Didi Initiative is Expected to Boost Rural Livelihoods

The initiative is expected to boost rural livelihoods by integrating women into the modern agricultural ecosystem. Drones will be used for crop spraying, field monitoring, and data collection, enabling cost-effective and efficient farming practices. This technological intervention is poised to enhance productivity while reducing manual labor and expenses.

In parallel, the government’s flagship Stand-Up India’ scheme continues to be a driving force for economic empowerment. So far, more than ₹56,975 crore has been sanctioned to over 2.52 lakh beneficiaries, including a significant number of women, SC, and ST entrepreneurs.

These combined efforts reflect the government’s commitment to transforming “Nari Shakti into Rashtra Shakti” (Women Power into Nation Power). The synergy of technology and financial support is playing a pivotal role in accelerating India’s inclusive and sustainable growth journey.
